Whilst Caribou toured the globe throughout 2012 in support of Radiohead, Dan Snaith has fallen deeper into his love affair with the dance floor, to bring us a full length release as Daphni. Beginning his career producing pastoral percussive assaults and kraut-leaning jams as Manitoba/Caribou, in his album ‘swim’ it was obvious that Dan Snaith had a keen interest in dance music.
Snaith became increasingly active as a DJ, and with his new guise, Daphni began to produce remixes, edits and delirious tracks like “Ye Ye,” which were a natural fit for his eclectic and high-energy DJ sets.
“I’ve been surprised by the number of transcendent moments that I, sober and in my mid-30s, have had in clubs in the last few years,” Snaith said. “Set against the backdrop of bland and functional dance music there is a small world where dance music lives up to its potential to liberate, surprise and innovate. There’s some magic in it still.”
