Moodymann
Kenny Dixon Jr, based in Detroit, uses the alias Moodymann to DJ and produce house and techno music. Known for his creation of a hybrid form of techno/house dance music through reworking riffs, samples and grooves from Detroit’s jazz, soul, funk and disco scene, some call his music cut-up Detroit house.
Moodymann has been known to DJ behind a screen and uses extensive old movie sound track samples from blaxploitation and b-movie genres that offer a friendly wink backwards at the innovative early 1990s rave scene.
Moodymann has released numerous albums via numerous labels to date and is the owner of KDJ Records and Mahogani Music.
