Airport Transfers

D16

Although we have taken flight times in to consideration our transfers are not linked to any specific flight(s). Dimensions takes no responsibility if you miss your coach or flight as a result of delays on either side.

Please note you will need to take in to consideration the time it takes to pass through customs, passport control and, if applicable, baggage reclaim (allow at least an hour for this).

Arrival times are given but these are only estimated and may change for a number of reasons, including, but not limited to, traffic jams, vehicle failure & border checks.

For anyone staying in the onsite campsite or hostel check-in is open 24 hours so regardless of the transfer time you will be able to receive your camping wristband and pitch-up.

For those staying in Private Apartments booked through Dimensions please note that check-in is only open between 10am and 10pm, if you book a transfer that arrives outside of these hours you will not be able to check-in until the office is open; we would suggest, in these instances, that you stay for a night in your arrival city and catch a transfer the next day to site.

If you have booked accommodation elsewhere please check their check-in procedure before booking.

Flights

© LD Pix

The nearest airport to the festival site is Pula (20 mins), followed by Trieste (1.5 hr), Ljubljana (2.2 hr), Zagreb (3 hr), and Venice (4hr). These times are for travelling by car along the highway from the city centre - please note our transfers take longer than this due to the slower rate of speed, passport checks at border crossings and location of airports.

Check our airport transfers list to book a flight that coincides with direct coaches to the festival; if your flight doesn’t quite match up why not get a spot of sight-seeing done en route?

Prices vary massively, don’t be put off if the first ones you see are expensive, there are cheap ways to travel out there – by flying to an airport slightly further a field you can get a much better deal..

Driving to Dimensions

d114

A number of our attendees choose to drive to Dimensions, either as their main destination or as one stop on a circuit around Europe.

If you are driving to the Festival, why don’t you add any potential spare seats on goCarShare? It connects you with people looking for a ride who contribute to the journey costs.

It uses Facebook, so you can see if you share friends or like similar music. It’s a great fun, green and cost effective way to travel across Europe, so please add your journey here… gocarshare.com

Directions from Vodnjan

When leaving Vodnjan head south toward Pula, after 4km turn right at signposts for Fazana. After 2 km you will reach the exit for the Puntizela Campsite. Turn left here and drive another 1.5 km until you reach the entrance to the Campsite.

Directions from Pula (Peličeti junction)

At the Peliceti exit turn right in the direction of Pula, and continue driving (along the ring-road, you will pass three cross-roads with tracffic lights) approx. 4 km (to INA petrol station Veli Vrh). Then turn left and continue driving in the direction of Fažana. After 2 km you will reach the exit for Camp Puntižela. Turn left, drive 1.5 km and you will come to the Campsite entrance.

Car parking

There is a free car park just down the road from the campsite; this is public land and therefore we cannot guarantee security, please do not leave any valuables in your car – there are safety deposit boxes within the festival site.

Car Hire

Another idea might be to hire a car from a nearby airport, if you’re staying in a local apartment having a car can provide you with a greater freedom to explore the area when you’re not dancing up at the fort or  catching rays down on the beach. You can check for competitive car-hire rates here:

Public Transport

Dimensions2012_ashes57-206

You can travel by Eurostar to Northern Italy and then take a train through Slovenia into Croatia, although we advise that buses in Croatia are much quicker than the trains.

The best websites for inter-city buses are either Autotrans or Autobusnikolodvor (click on the bus line (eg. Split-Pula) to see the full route and timings).

Once in Pula, you can get a local bus to the Festival. Lookout for buses to Fazana and Puntizela. The bus stops right outside the Festival Campsite – you’ll know when you’ve got there!

We are liaising with the local council to put on night buses to local areas throughout the festival. More details to come.

Taxi’s

Dimensions-Festival-2012-Dan-Medhurst-9627

If arriving outside of transfer times a Taxi will be the easiest way to get from Pula Airport to the site. Taxis can be hailed outside stations and airports very easily or from taxi ranks in Pula.

Once at the festival, there is a dedicated taxi rank a short walk from the Festival entrance.

All legal taxi’s have meters, and must use them by law. We are currently liaising with the local authority to arrange a fixed-fee tariff during the festival, however should this not happen here is the meter information;

During the day the taximeter price is 7kn per kilometer, with a 15kn starting fee, and luggage is FREE. From 22:00 – 05:00 Monday – Saturday, and 24 hours on Sunday the price is 20% more expensive (18 kn starting fee, 8.5kn per kilometer). Vans (8 or 7 seaters) are 50% more expensive than the car price. Meters start as soon as you get in the car.

Here are some guide prices for a four seater car during the day;

  • Festival taxi rank to Valbandon = 45 kn (4 km ride)
  • Festival taxi rank to Stinjan = 35 kn (3 km ride)
  • Festival taxi rank to Veli Vrh = 60 kn (6 km ride)
  • Festival taxi rank to Fazana = 50 kn (5 km ride)
  • Festival taxi rank to Pula center = 70 kn (8 km ride)
  • Pula Airport to Pula center = 80 kn (8 km ride)
  • Pula Airport to Festival taxi rank = 100 kn (12 km ride)
  • Festival taxi rank to Verudela = 100 kn (12 km ride)
  • Festival taxi rank to village of Peroj = 80 kn (9 km ride)

You should ALWAYS ask for a receipt, it is a legal requirement. If you do not ask for one, or the taxi driver does not give you one you could both be liable for a fine from the inspectors.

If you feel you have  been overcharged by a taxi, or they will not issue you with a receipt, please report it to our staff at the drop-off point. We will be monitoring all taxi’s with access to this restricted area, and will revoke that access for any taxi’s that do not act in our customers best interests.

Watch out for illegal taxi’s – although they may be cheaper they are not regulated by the city and you might be putting yourself in unnecessary danger. If you have a complaint about an illegal taxi you will need to talk to the police.

Travel Insurance

© Ben Eagle

We strongly recommend that every festival attendee has a travel insurance policy to cover medical emergency and personal possessions whilst in Croatia.

To book yours at this fantastic rate please go through this link.

Please note this insurance is only available for customers travelling to Croatia from the UK – we are currently awaiting a Europe-wide insurance policy from TAGIS.
